It's been 20 years since China joined the WTO.

中國(guó)加入世界貿(mào)易組織已經(jīng)20年了

But how things changed?

都發(fā)生了哪些變化

Let's see what the numbers say.

China contributes close to a third of the world' s GDP.

中國(guó)對(duì)全球GDP增量的貢獻(xiàn)率接近三分之一

Its overall tariff rate has been slashed from 15.3% to 7.4%.

關(guān)稅總水平由15.3%降至7.4%

Exports were seven times what they were 20 years ago, and imports six times.

出口額增至20年前的7倍 進(jìn)口額增至6倍

But how does all this factor into people’s daily lives here and overseas?

Let’s have a look around downtown Shanghai, China’s largest consumer base.

This is a fairly typical local wet market, and it’s not difficult to find something imported.

這是上海的小菜場(chǎng)

In 2020, China imported almost ten million tons of meat.

2020年 中國(guó)總計(jì)進(jìn)口肉類近1000萬噸

More than two million tons of that was beef.

其中 牛肉進(jìn)口量超200萬噸

A lot of that beef came from countries like Brazil, Argentina and Australia.

主要從巴西 阿根廷和澳大利亞等國(guó)進(jìn)口

Now we're at the fruit section.

現(xiàn)在我們來到了水果區(qū)

I did some research.

我做了些調(diào)查

Twenty years ago, bananas were the most popular imported fruit in China.

20年前 香蕉是中國(guó)人最喜愛的進(jìn)口水果

By 2018, cherries were topping the list.

2018年 櫻桃是中國(guó)進(jìn)口最多的水果

And in 2020, durian was the most popular imported fruit in the country.

到2020年 榴蓮成為了中國(guó)進(jìn)口水果之“王”

One this size costs about two hundred yuan or thirty US dollars.

這種大小的榴蓮大約要200元 差不多是30美元

But it's a big one and it's really spiky.

不過它很大 還很扎手

On the other hand, apples and pears have always been China's top exported fruits.

另一方面 蘋果和梨一直是中國(guó)出口最多的水果

And the export value is now fifteen times what it was twenty years ago.

如今 它們的出口額已經(jīng)達(dá)到了20年前的15倍

Most of them go to North and South America.

大部分出口到北美洲和南美洲的市場(chǎng)

Electric vehicles were few and far between back then.

Now an NEV company can set up a shop right here in China.

And next year, the cap on foreign share for joint ventures in the automobile industry will be completely removed.

Although public transportation is ridiculously convenient in big cities like Shanghai, having a car just makes it a little bit easier for longer distance commutes, or when I want to get out of town with friends or family, I did have to rush to get my driver's license though.
